GURGAON: A day after the state labour minister promised to uplift the working conditions of unskilled labourers in the state, a 22-year-old man fell to death at Sushant Lok I. The labourer was reportedly neither wearing a safety harness nor was there a mesh to break his fall.
The incident took place on Saturday at 8.15 am when the victim, Ghanshyam, was working on the sixth floor of an under-construction building in the area.
Ghanshyam was fixing a window pane from outside when he lost balance. He fell on the ground and the glass window, which he was carrying, broke on him. He died on his way to a local hospital. The labourer is a native of Badhoi and worked under a contractor as a daily-wage labourer.
"We have informed his family members. They will arrive on Sunday," said a police officer.
No case has been registered in the matter as the police are awaiting a formal complaint from the victim's kin. State Labour and Employment minister Shiv Charan Lal Sharma had on Friday spoken on a 10-point agenda o uplift the condition of labourers in Haryana.
